Ouchy

Poor baby. Sydney did not have a good ending for July at all. I got a text message from Tracie on Friday (July 30) that Sydney had sprain her ankle at the playground in the mall. I came home to find Sydney nursing a left ankle the size of a small lemon. She ended up hobbling around for 3 days with her ankle wrapped and iced. We had to postpone her Friday evening swimming lesson and abandon any thought of going to the water park to end the summer.

Chalk it up as another first - First Ankle Sprain (7/30/2010).

Fast forward to Thursday, 8/5/2010. Sydney was about the complete her first successful week at her new school as a pre-K student. Sydney was getting around much better but I was still leery about the ankle. The swelling had gone down for the most part but I sure did not want her to resume playing soccer or jumping around. But how do you stop a 4-yo from bring active? You can't. Lo and behold, I was upstairs when I heard a blood curdling scream. She had jammed her left foot under the frame of a piece of furniture in the family room. There was a small knot on top of her foot where it had banged against the metal frame. Several minutes with the ice pack and again came Hop-Along-Sydney with yet another "ouchy."
