She's Finally 1 Year Old

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, SYDNEY!!

You did it! You survived being with us for a whole year. We managed to go on vacation in Toronto early March to celebrate Sydney's birthday early with Tracie's family since Kyle, Sydney's cousin, is also turning 1 year old just 11 days before her birthday. What better way to celebrate than putting the two of them together. Besides, Sydney has not seen her grandparents (Tracie's parents) since she was 2 months old.

Here's a picture of Sydney's first birthday cake. It's nice, with various Disney fairy tale characters on top, like Cinderella, the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. The cake was delicious, too. The party for Kyle and Sydney was held at a Chinese restaurant. Everyone enjoyed a nice buffet, then it was cake-cutting time. Sydney was full of herself. She wore a new dress and was a good little hostess (until the room got too warm). She ate everything we put in front of her, from roasted chicken to tofu. She even licked the spoon for me.

At the end of the evening, there was even a pinata with goodies inside. Instead of having to take a whack at it, the kids took turn pulling on ribbons at the bottom until one of them pulled on the right one. It was a great idea.

Well, just one picture for good measures. I wanted to post the picture of Sydney in the pool while we were in Toronto. Unfortunately, someone had to hold the baby while she was in the pool so the picture of Tracie and I did not exactly show our best sides. No amount of cropping would have saved us so the whole idea got tossed. Another picture will have to do. Once we got back to Atlanta, we took Sydney to The Olive Garden for her very own birthday dinner since she loves minetrone soup so much. Thsi picture shows off her teeth. She has four of them now.
As usual, Sydney and I were having fun. Sydney was laughing as I dangled a pack of Kleenex tissues menacingly over her head. She was dressed in a dainty white dress with a yellow sweater. She looked awfully cute.
